What is Buff Polishing?

Buff polishing is a type of polishing method used to finish the surface of stainless steel.

“Buff” is the name of the tool that used for polishing the surface of stainless steel.

The stainless-steel surface is polished by the “buff” made of cotton or felt by its rotating.

There are several types of buffing, many of which are distinguished numerically, like “#250”, “#800”.

In general, the higher the number, the more glossy and higher the grade of the polished surface.

#800 buffing is also called “mirror finishing” which can make mirror-like reflections on the surface of the container.

Buff finishing also has the effect of removing burrs and scratches during processing and improve the surface smoothness.

However, Nitto Stainless only do the buff finishing for the product when necessary.

This is because of our “commitment” as a stainless-steel container manufacturer, which engaging with the pharmaceutical and food industries permanently.

Disadvantages of Buff Polishing and Nitto Stainless' Commitment

In buff finishing, a kind of polishing powder called “abrasive” is applied to the rotating buff for polishing. At this time, the oil of this polishing agent adheres to the gaps between small scratches caused by buffing.

In Nitto Stainless, we clean the products after buffing, but to be honest, it is very difficult to remove dirt completely in the cleaning process.

In other words, the more you do buffing, the dirtier the surface will get.

In order to minimize the buffing, Nitto Stainless selects the best stainless-steel board carefully to make a beautiful body part of the container without any polishing. And we only applies buff finishing to the applicable range of the container just to remove processing traces.

By ascertaining the conditions under which customers are using our products and the quality they require through our long experience, we are able to make the high-quality Nitto-Stainless products.

Electrolytic polishing is also recommended!

Of course, there are many customers who are concerned about even a little dirt in the container.

In that case, we recommend the “electrolytic polishing” which has a higher grade cleanliness.

If you use electrolytic polishing, you can remove the extremely small dirt from the surface of the container easily!
